Karl Lagerfeld’s Couture Cola (Coca-Cola Light’s New Bottle)

9 Apr

Karl Lagerfeld stylized Coca Cola Light! On Thursday, April 7, Karl and friends celebrated the launch of the new, limited-edition Coca-Cola Light bottle at Restaurant Le Georges (at Paris’ Centre Georges Pompidou).

And who better to serve this couture cola than Karl himself? There was a myriad of Karl clones serving the chic new bottle to the partygoers.

Audrey Marnay, Lou Douillon, Beatrice Rosen, Amanda Sthers, Uffie, Lou Lesage, Caroline de Maigret, Nicole Trunfio and Lily Cole all came out for the unveiling of the new bottle adorned in fabulous Karl frocks.

Karl not only designed the bottles, he also shot their ad campaign, using three of his favorite models (Heidi Mount, Jeneil Williams and Coco Rocha).

The glamorous bottles are all part of the ‘Love It Light’ campaign and will be available individually or as a set in an exclusive prism-shaped collector’s box. These fashionable fizzy’s are available beginning in June.

Karl Lagerfeld 2011 Eyewear Campaign

29 Mar

Karl Lagerfeld’s 2011 eyewear collection captures a sophisticated modernity and urban chicness. Karl brilliantly photographs his two muses Freja Beha and Baptiste Giabiconi creating a provocative and intense mood in each image. The seductive dark images are brought to life with electrifying blue dripping from the pages.

The sun and optical collection illustrates the extraordinary craftsmanship of each piece with its incredible Karl Lagerfeld design aesthetic. Turning his attention to metal frames this season; Lagerfeld offers variations of the classic aviator, bold masculine styles, amplified mixtures and dramatic oversized frames for women. Each sunglass frame features Karl’s personal signature on the lens.

Look a little closer and you can catch a haunting glimpse of Karl in the reflection of the mirror while he is working his magic. The subtle juxtaposition creates a unique, sultry and ominous photograph.

Provocative French maids dusting the steps at the Cour du Louvre, ominous black balloons hovering overhead and a black lacquer catwalk set the stage for the show. It was a star-studded event at Hotel Vuitton as uniformed porters unveiled each look from beautiful vintage elevators.

Marc Jacobs blurred the boundaries between fashion and fetish revealing buttoned-up jackets in patent leather, corset-like waist-cinching belts, sheer skirts and gowns, leather bondage style shorts, cashmere onesies and handcuffs.

The model line-up was amazing as the industry’s best returned to the runway to strut their stuff. Naomi, Campbell, Amber Valetta, Carolyn Murphy and Maria Carla handcuffed to their handbags. Kate Moss closed the show igniting the runway while smoking a cigarette in a leather bodysuit with fur sleeves.

Elie Saab A/W 2011 – ‘The Red Carpet King’

23 Mar

Elie Saab, ‘the red carpet king’, created a show reminiscent of a set from a Luis Buñuel film. Inspired by a modern-day Belle de jour, the models paraded down the runway in slim silhouettes, polished daywear and glamorous gowns epitomizing Parisian chic.

The sophisticated tailoring that we know and love was highlighted as the attention was turned to daywear. Knit and wool crepe sheath dresses were cinched in with a slim belt evoking a 60’s silhouette. In contrast, eveningwear embodied long chiffon dresses, sexy thigh-high splits and sparkly numbers that would make any woman feel like a regal queen.

The autumn palette, filled with rich jewel tones such as cherry red, dark purple, scarlet and burgundy were a beautiful balance to the taupe, sand, nude and pale gray tones. My favorites were the smoldering siren red numbers that lit up the runway and the sequined frocks that dazzled like a starry night.

Elie Saab recently dressed Evan Rachel Wood in one of his elegant A/W 2011-12 ready-to-wear cocktail dresses for the New-York premiere of Mildred Pierce.
